I first started making jewelry when I was 15 and in high school. I started Byrd Designs in 1992 and with the help of my partner (and husband) went on to create a very successful wholesale and retail business.
I’ve always been attracted to vintage, Victorian, Edwardian, and antique looking stuff. In general, I love old stuff.
I also love to travel internationally – and try to do so as much as I can to a new location on the planet – where I can experience cultural exchange, exotic foods, and new adventures.
This has given me a strong interest in world cultures and art and crafts from other countries and has influenced my work greatly.
Through the years, I have worked as a musician, played with pottery, learned to paint on canvas, did some acting, and now I work a great deal in filmmaking as a director and editor and produce international documentaries around the globe.
I spend a good amount of my time painting, making stuff, drinking yerba maté, cooking slow home cooked meals, and hanging out with my husband.
